Dr. Lessin is a founder and senior partner of The Children’s Medical Group, PLLC. Dr. Lessin merged and built the group from 2 deeply competitive practices into a fully integrated practice with 8 sites and 26 clinicians. Among his other roles, he developed a Clinical Research Department at the group and was a principal investigator in 17 studies. He founded and was President of the Taconic IPA for 14 years. The IPA began with 12 physicians and grew to over 3000 physician members. He is a Certified Managed Care Executive through America's Health Insurance Plans and for 6 years, served on several boards of MVP Healthcare, a regional health insurance company with Commercial, Third Party Administration, Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid lines of business. The company insures over 650,000 lives with annual premium revenue of more than $3 billion. Dr. Lessin has done Medical Malpractice case review and testimony for both plaintiff and defense for more than 30 years. He has served on the Executive Committee of the AAP Section on Administration and Practice Management, the AAP national Committee on Practice and Ambulatory Medicine (COPAM) and is currently Private Payor Advocacy Committee (PAAC), the ADHD national guidelines committee, and the ADHD toolkit committee. He was an editorial board member of the AAP’s Practice Management Online. He has authored several AAP national policy statements. He has served as a faculty member for the AAP’s national meetings for more than 7 years, lecturing on business topics including profitability, integrated medical group formation, value based payment, and medico-legal issues. He has been an invited speaker on similar topics at medical meetings around the country and the world. He is a graduate of Union College and received his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, and his Pediatric residency at Yale.
